Red Upright Maples
Bloodgood
Vigorous red upright which matures to 18 feet or more. An old
stand-by with prominent reed seeds and crimson fall colour.
Emporer 1
Emporer 1 is herald as the replacement for "Bloodgood" for a
consistent upright red. Its translucent deep red leaves, full habit
and excellent fall colour have contributed to its popularity.
Matures to 18 feet.
Fireglow
Excellent colour retention and a full rounded habit make the
fireglow one of our favorite red uprights. Matures to 18 feet.
Moonfire
Moonfire is smaller in stature, maturing to 15 feet with a broad
dense canopy. Selected for its purple-red summer colour. Breaks bud
about two weeks earlier than "Bloodgood"
Weeping Red Maples
Crimson Queen
Popular red dissectum with good name recognition. Fall colours are
bright crimson. Comparatively slow growing with a mushroom shaped
canopy. Matures to 9 feet in height and 12 feet in width.
Garnet
One of the largest growing dissectums which can reach 12 feet in
height and 15 feet in width. Orange-red in colour, its leaves are
slightly coarser than others in the dissectum group. Full, dense
canopy.
Red Dragon
Rivals ‘Crimson Queen’ for its colour retention, but for a deeper
purple-red tone. Matures to 9 feet in height and 12 feet in width.
Relatively slow growing.
Red Select
Deep red dissectum showing silvery hairs on unfolding buds. Its
branching is rather irregular, creating beautiful forms. Matures to
9 feet in height and 12 feet in width.
Tamukeyama
Outstanding red dissectum. It is extremely vigorous and tolerant of
adverse conditions. It is an old cultivar, found listed in the
1700’s, but remains popular due to its exceptional qualities.
Matures to 12 feet. We give this cultivar 5 stars.
